Etsy's iPad Goods

OhioFashionista.com' s favorite iPad accessory picks on etsy.com:

Dragon Moss Bamboo Case Stand for iPad and iPad - $59.90

Not only do we love sustainable fashion, but also sustainable accessories!  Bamboo also has a very contemporary look different that any other wood, well because it's branches mashed together that create the vertical look.

Lolita iPad Case - Leather -   $150

Love the detail leather work on this bag.  It not only provides a protective cover for the iPad but is an artful view.

the finger stylus - $6

This was scary the first time we saw it!  But then after a few minutes of playing on the iPad we realized a 'spare' finger isn't a bad idea!  This stylus may look like something from the crypt keeper but is definitely a handy tool and can be quite entertaining too!

Is the iPad fashion friendly? & top fashion apps!

This week was spent with some fashionistas that are extremely "high tech" - to the point that now it's not just the BlackBerry and laptops that are a daily accessory but so is the iPad.  While the iPad joins the ranks of mp3, cell phone and laptops of electronics that are used on a daily base one question I had was what is the difference between the iPad and a laptop.  Is it really worth ditching my laptop that mine as well be a life line for an iPad? PCWorld recently wrote an article the iPad vs. the laptop and why may be more beneficial than the other.

While many are checking the speed, browsing for their regular sites and other capabilities (or inabilities?) of the iPad I was hunting for the best fashion apps - below!

Gilt Groupe

Interview Magazine

The Sartorialist

CameraBag

Gap 1969 Stream

Great news for Clevelanders - Hugo Boss is operating again!

Hugo Boss is operating again!  That is great news considering the menswear manufacturer located in Brooklyn community had been closed and now reopened and producing suits.  While they are working on a reduced staff of approximately 200 employees they are just thankful for having their jobs, and everyone is excited to one again having made in Ohio apparel!  WKYC has current updates on their website.

Friday Fashion: Follies or Fashion?

Today while driving around town came across not just a traffic jam but a sidewalk sale in Hudson.  If you recall we were just in Hudson and visited Vertical Runner earlier this week.  Sidewalks were packed with sales and people hunting for the best deals.

The sale had many various features from all stores including Gap and one called the The Grey Colt which had an interesting variety on outdoor racks, I didn't go inside to check out the current displays.

Judge for yourself, follie or fashion?

Va Va - Sale $81 (reg. $182)

Brand unknown - $20

Orla Kiely - $289 regular (sale approx $219)

SO what do you think?  Leave a comment and let us know!  OhioFashionista.com wants to hear from you.

Tuesday Trend: Off the Shoulder Tops

Blog:  Couture in the City - Celebrity influenced off the shoulder trends.

The off the shoulder look is one of those looks that you can trace through time, even Jackie O's wedding dress was an off the shoulder gown.  Whether it's a off the shoulder dress walking the red carpet of the Emmy's or a casual look walking the sidewalks in New York City or Beverly Hills it is seen everywhere.  With the the high temperatures in Ohio recently the saying less is more has been the look of the moment.  The off the shoulder look has been found in the malls and night clubs across the state - it's one of the quickest ways to stay cool and beat the heat.

OhioFashionista.com Local Picks:

Neiman Marcus - Robert Rodriguez  $145
Neiman Marcus is worth a nice weekend drive to PA!

  Old Navy - $17.97

Shopping Spotlight: Vertical Runner (Hudson)

Vertical Runner in Hudson / Photo: Owner Vince Rucci, credit: Plain Dealer

Today on a whim while driving through Hudson decided to take a quick walk through the shops in downtown (along Main St) and came across a nice store dedicated to jogger and walking enthusiasts that I have heard a lot about over the years.  Even for a monday afternoon I was suprised the store was quite busy with people trying on shoes, sifting through the wall of socks, and even the wall of healthy looking snacks and waters.

This store is known amongst the running and excercising community as top notch, and is recommended by many of the personal trainers (and they shop there too) to find a good pair of running or exercising shoes that also work at the natatorium (which is how I heard about it).  Though they have stiff competition with local stores such Dick's the shopping experience is something completely different with the 'small enough to care' attitude towards everyone.

While I didn't go in there to buy shoes I was hoping to find a pair of trekking poles for hiking this summer (which they didn't have) I did however find a local source for camel backpacks will come in handy.

The week's fashion wind down...

Apologies for not having posts this week, was having technical difficulties with the blog host and would receive the evil error of doom whenever I wanted to hit publish.  But seems to be all cleared up now!

A few fun things that I've been hearing the buzz around Ohio that are interesting to pass on:

Losing some of Ohio's trendy young stars...

As most of us all watched last night but "The Decision"  went down as LeBron James will be going to the Miami Heat instead of staying with the Cleveland Cavaliers for at least the next 5 years.  Wonder if we'll also be losing Savannah Brinson?  Ohio not only loses a basketball player, but also one of our local trend setters.  Social media networks were not the only things on fire last night this image was shot of a LeBron jersey outside of BW3s in Akron.

Eclipse hits the silver screen and the crowds go wild...

This summer's movie fever was only heightened with the latest installment of the Twilight series, Eclipse.  I'll be honest this was the only one I seen on the big screen and had only gone because we made it as a girls night out with some friends.  I had always been interested in the discussions on the fashion from Twilight series and while it looks like looks off the pages of Abercrombie and Fitch, many of the looks are from off the shelves of Gap.

A recent article in Entertainment Weekly dissects the fashions from the Eclipse and gives us some other unknown bits of trivia.  Article on EW.com

Berlin's Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week coming to a close...

With Fashion Week Berlin rounding up speculation as been running that even though they have hosted a fashion week since 2007 will we be seeing Berlin as a new major fashion hub along the likes fo New York, Milan, London and Paris?  (...maybe even Cleveland)  As Fashion Week comes to a close for the Spring/Summer 2011 looks we are looking on in the sweltering heat, in Ohio and Germany, visually picking and deciding what we like best for next summer already.  Can we just skip winter all together, wishful thinking on not only my part but I'm sure many others.

Here's my top pick for next summer so far, by Austrian designer Lena Hoschek:

While this is not a typical blog entry it's been bits that have been floating around the past few weeks that I came across and thought they would be fun to share!  Back to regular scheduled programming now!

Spotlight: Kimberly Monaco Designs

This weekend at the Kent Heritage festival I was fortunate enough to meet one of the 140 various vendors that works with beach glass and rocks - from Cleveland.  I thought this was such an awe-inspiring concept having recently read a blog about beach glass for weddings that was actually edible.

Kimberly Monaco Designs of Lakewood works with all sorts of materials from metals, beach glass and also beach stone that she collects from the shores of Lake Erie.  Kimberly summed it up best herself talking of walks that she enjoys with her grandson on the shores.  Many of the stones also come from the collection her grandson accumulated for her that were found upon return home from their trips in his pockets.

Kimberly also does a lot of work with found objects, such as this antique skeleton key that she found on a trip to Amish country at a tag sale.

Today: Kent Heritage Festival

This is just a quick note as I didn't realize it was this weekend but the Kent Heritage Festival is this weekend.  It's a nice festival that is held annually in downtown Kent (Main St area).  Kent has undergone a bunch of changes in the past few years with new shops and restaurants that it is definitely worth a visit if you haven't either been for a while or ever.   A great excuse to get out and enjoy some shopping and fresh air!

Description from the website:
This annual, all day celebration features the Jeff Graham Memorial Fireworks, Kent Historic Train Rides (sponsored by the Kent Chamber), Ducks over the Falls, Live music and entertainment all day on three stages, 5K & 10 Race & one mile fun run, Children’s Play area, well over 100 food and craft booths, and many more local displays.

Friday Five- Fourth of July

Most of us are getting ready for family camping, picnics or even mini vacations this weekend to our favorite destinations to enjoy the Fourth of July holiday.  Fourth of July has traditionally over the years not just been all about the fireworks but also about the red, white, and blue fashions.  From the sun dresses worn to the picnic to the swimsuit worn on the beach this weekend is definitely one that you 'pull out all the stops' with the wardrobe.

Lilly Pulitzer - 'Carrie Dress' - $250

Gold Rhinestone Sandals - $34.95

Patriot Red Tankini - $8.99 at Target
