While watching the hours long opening ceremony tonight for the XXI Olympics in Vancouver one thing that really caught my eye was the variety of scarves that the Olympians were wearing. Some were wearing them to stay warm in the enclosed arena, and some were whipping them wildly in the air swinging around their country name and/or colors.
Here's an example of one I saw on the Olympics opening ceremony. It was actually being whipped in the air and held over there heads, much like their own personal flag of sorts.
