Tuesday Trend: Cargos

Cargo capris from the Loft paired with zebra print tank and scarf worn by Christina Phillis from The Cosmopolitan Clevelander.

When you are looking for comfort for this summer many wouldn't argue you with you about the comfort of a pair of cargos which are often made of cotton and are "soft and flexible". Cargos are available in many various styles from shorts, capris or pants and look great paired with anything from sandals to heels.  A'la Jennifer Aniston style...:

They are a favorite amongst those that do many outdoor activities or even the photographer that either wanted to put cans of film (yes the process does still exist!) or just to throw gear in their pockets - like I always did!

Also from the Loft for the Hot at Beachcliff fashion show Stacey from Goodwill Huntingg modeled shorts paired with a sequined tank top (milky white) and boyfriend cardigan.

Product review: It's a 10...

Ever been so upset at something you just feel like you need to take to the streets and shout it from the rooftops?  Well that's how I felt after coming home and seeing what a mess my stylist made of my hair with it's a 10 "miracle styling cream. I generally don't like to go on a rampage about a product, but a few of my followers can a test to my ranting yesterday about this product, as I was thoroughly frustrated!

My stylist and I have a wonderful stand relationship for several years and while I trust her with my hair I trust that she knows her products. Truly tho I'm looking at the situation as the wrong product for my hair that was a learning lesson for us both.

I'm not asking you to pass judgment on the product with out trying it yourself, but consider this a forewarning of things to look for.  When she put the product on everything felt fine just like any other hair product that had been applied. She explained there would be no issue styling with a hot iron once dry listed the many other "qualities" of the product  including: eliminating frizz, and sealing split ends to name a few.

Leaving the salon I felt good about the product, good enough to buy a bottle of it with her recommendation knowingly I was nearly out of the product I had at home which was comparable in price.  After getting home a few hours later I decided to flat iron which she didn't do to allow ample time for it to dry - then the nightmares began.  I noticed the product made my hair coarse but thought maybe I'm just feeling things so I continued and literally in white globs the product melted off my hair.  I quickly hopped into the shower and washed it out - few hours later still felt coarseness from the product which I believe to of been the sealing quality - wash again, no dice still coarse.  Next day after morning shower still felt the coarseness but did not have the white blobs stream down my hair and as I had the day before.  Final result, I wasn't happy so I called the salon and while they didn't "understand" had said to go ahead and return what I had purchased - GOOD cause I didn't want it.

I later talked to a hair stylist at the Hot at Beachcliff event and she had mentioned it sounded she had put too much of it onto my hair possibly - but she wasn't familiar with the specific product.  I'm still returning it though, if a stylist can accidentally put too much on I'm sure I'll be making a mess of it on my own!

Zero out of five stars. Nora tested, Nora not approved.

Fashion Week Roundup & Friday Five - TGIF!

What a whirlwind of activities we have had over the past week including the gala event for Fashion Week Cleveland at the Crawford Auto Museum.  This event just seems to be getting big and bigger every year!  There were truly some very nice pieces that went down the runway and such a mix of bondage looking, swim suits to bridal!
The automobile museum was a great 'distraction' while walking around and enjoying taking pictures with such great vehicles like the stainless steel Thunderbird or DeLorean my personal favorites.  The night was perfect with some samples of foods from local restaurants and Tequilador and Squirt mixed drinks that one was easily distracted while chit-chatting away which wasn't good for trying to get good seats at the show!  The show itself was set up interesting an cross pattern unlike the year before which did cause for a few near collisions amongst models on the runway but also made for not so ideal but can improvise seating arrangements.  If you weren't 'Johnny on the spot' for getting in their early you may of ended up like me in the back and huddled against a wall to get you some of these fine pictures.  But the evening was still a success had a great time loved running into blogger friends Christina from The Cosmopolitan Clevelander and Stacey from Goodwill Huntingg.  We had a great time, and we look forward to the event next year - it just seems to be getting better with age like the fine wines and cheeses they were serving!

While we had many here are OhioFashionista.com's Friday Five Picks:

Make sure you check out our Facebook page for more pictures in the Fashion Week Cleveland album!

Tuesday Trend: Purse Hangers...

One thing that you don't put a lot of thought in till possibly either your purse drops to the ground, is crushed or has food dropped on it is where to hang it in a restaurant.  Well, why not hang it off the bottom of the table from your purse hanger?  At first I thought these hooks of metal were kind of funny till I found myself utilizing them when I go out for those very reasons I listed!

While you can truly find them in any store including Macy's or even Target; I like to support local artists that I can find at crafts show or on Etsy.

Here's some of my favorite hangers/hookers found locally:

Art Glass Fusion - Kent - $15

Silverhooks - Columbus - $12.99

There are many styles and they easily it into a purse and no bigger the size of a half-dollar folded up, like the lower image!
