With men, it's all about the... (Thursday Trend)

...details on their jeans!  What did you think I was going to say?

While browsing the GQ website I came across a wonderful little pictorial article about the detail work on men's denim.  We all pay attention to the jeans, right?  Well ok, maybe more attention to who's wearing them but really once you get real close and right down to it those fine little details can really make or break a good pair of jeans. So, guys if you see your lady staring down don't get too much of an ego trip she's just looking to see your denim details!

Here's a few of OhioFashionista.com favorites from the GQ pictorial article:

Subtle hints of color...

Pocket detailing isn't just for the birds...

Friday Feature: Robert W. Walker

Last year while browsing through an arts and crafts show along the shores of Lake Anna in Barberton I came across an artist booth for Robert W. Walker.  At first glance the dramatic colors and images draw you in and you just stare in amazement and wonder.  After several minutes of staring I came across a wall of accessories - wallets, bracelets and other trinkets.  The first thing I look at in an accessory (or anything) is quality and than usually the design and I was so well impressed with the quality of the wallets that I had to then make the daunting task of which image I liked the best - took a few walks around the show to finally figure out which would be proudly mine.  I have to say to this day I am still impressed with how the wallet looks and withstood what I put it through and how well the image has kept it's quality.

While I didn't get to meet Robert at the show we have since exchanged via his facebook page messages and he is a very intriguing individual.  At the time of this blog he is in California, but is from the Northern Ohio area originally where he grew up.  In the last few months he ventured off on an amazing adventure towards California in his Winnebago and has been exposing the west coast to his amazing artwork.  You can read more about Robert, his adventures and his work on his website: RW2GALLERY

Robert's work can be found on everything from original paintings, wallets, laptop bags, clocks, shower curtains, and much more.

Here are some of OhioFashionista.com favorites:

Mermaid Clutch Wallet (leather)  -  $50

Cuff Bracelets (leather) - $20

Tuesday Trend: Silicone Watches

Has anyone seen this new crazy in watches that is being called silicone watches? The  first time saw them was in Burlington Coat Factory (Akron) by the checkout so I of course had to try one on while waiting and instantly thought how uncomfortable.  But I have seen them popping up more and more on adults and children especially with sportswear or casual wear. I would think that a downfall to these watches would be the "breath-ability" of the material that it would make your wrist sweat and just cause discomfort over a period of time.  But truly there is a saying that there are sacrifices for fashion and this may just be one of these occurrences.

What do you think of these watches?  Let us know in the comments!

Did you hear in Northeastern Ohio we would be hitting 70 degrees this Saturday?  I did a double-take too was almost unbelievable, maybe the days of snowflakes will finally be coming to an end, but truly I'm not holding my breath.  While I talk to family across the globe they are already complaining about 80 degree weather and saying they can't wait for winter again, grass is always greener on the other side of the pond!

Monday Madness...13 Tips and Tricks

13 Tips and tricks

1.  Bad breath? No toothbrush or mints and you’re stuck at work? Look in the break room for an orange or an iced tea with a lemon slice. Citric fruits, like oranges, lemons, and grapefruits are proven to cure the worst of breaths

2. Wear tights on your arms. Make tights/leggings into sleeves by cutting a hole in the crotch for your head. Looks great under sleeveless turtleneck dresses.

3.  Maybe you’ve heard this one, toothpaste on your zit to zap it overnight.

4. Puffy eyes? Put two metal spoons in the fridge for 20 minutes, then lay them over your eyes. I swear by this one!

5. Pour vinegar over your hair, let sit for 10 minutes, then wash out. It’ll remove all your built-up shampoo and product and replace it with shiny locks!

6. Ran out of eyeliner and don’t have time to get some more? Dip an ultra slim brush into your mascara and use that.

7. Speaking of mascara, it you don’t want to buy the expensive, but well worth it mascara every time. Use the best brush twice by buying a cheap tube and sticking the old brush in it. Most mascara liquid is the same, it’s the brush that cost so most.

8. Everyone’s nose tilts a little of the left or right, so part your hair to the other side to balance it out.

9. Just put lip gloss in the middle of your lips. It’ll spread out, but not look messy.

10.  Use white eyeliner below your eyes to look more awake.

11.  Smile when putting on blush, it makes it look natural.

12.  Dr. Scholls inserts are great for heels, but use them with flats and sneakers for a little extra height too.

13.  Hang wrinkled clothes in the bathroom after a hot shower to iron them without the work.

Successful blogs...

I wanted to share this with everyone tonight as it gets into what makes a successful blog - and this specifically focuses on a discussion with a professional blogger and two fashion bloggers.  I've never seen the Cher Rue Show before and while it's a little "cheesy" it's kinda cute and I thought this would be great video for many of us "bloggers" to see!  Enjoy!

Fashion is not immune from April Fool's Pranks...

...but then either is my blog!  I had a lovely post scheduled that never appeared by Brittany Saylor, but you will just have to wait till Monday now!  Patience is a virtue!

While I was getting random phone calls all day attempting to prank me, but really I am immune after a childhood of awesome pranks by my parents.

Here's a list I found on FashionETC for your April Fool's enjoyment:

FashionweekNYC was on a fake-out roll, tweeting that Sex and the City 3 was confirmed to launch in 2012 (nope!), Rebecca Minkoff is launching a unicorn collection (nay!), and Tom Ford is designing a line for H&M (previously rumored, but, alas, not so much).

Across the pond, LDN Fashion revealed that ousted Dior designer John Galliano would be making his comeback with a capsule collection for U.K. supermarket chain Asda—suspiciously slated to launch (ahem!) April 1, 2012.

"Galliano, who has been on a hiatus since being dismissed by Dior, is set to revamp the famous George line with three new capsule collections called John, Paul and Ringo," the site joked.

And wannabe models might want to hold off on glamming up their Twitter avatars. We suspect that theFord Models Blog announcement that models would be signed based on their 48 x 48 pixel pics was a tad tongue in cheek.

Meanwhile, Marilyn Agency N.Y. quickly admitted that its Twitter announcement that it would open a men’s modeling division in New York City was a gag. Sorry, boys!
