Tuesday Trend...Cowgirl Up in Style!

This week a mystery box arrived on my door step via Fedex which I was oh so eager to open and here it was a pair of cowboy boots! Who sends anyone cowboy boots? Well apparently Lucchese Boots does to those that won contests a year ago for a pair of boots - I had since forgotten about them! Glad they kept their end of the deal up as I'm now the proud owner of some nice boots.
Having not owned cowboy boots I immediately took to the Internet to find the best looks with the boots that may work with my current wardrobe, but sometimes truly it is more fun to go out and buy new outfits!

Here's some favorite looks:

William & Kate on their last day in Canada (from Grazia Daily)

Delamina Blog

Great looks with boots!

Lots of ways to mix and match with skirts, pants and shorts!  The possibilities are endless...but, BUT please note that you don't see any with capri pants it is just one of those fashion faux pas that luckily most know about as I've never seen it before.  But occassionally makes for fun dress up as found on The Berry Patch blog:

Capri pants and cowboy boots...OY!

It's alive, almost!

As many of you have been noticing we've finally been able to make the transition over to blogger from wordpress and truly it's much easier so far but now it's about getting the right 'template' look.  Whoever thought looking for the right template would be worse than picking out a wardrobe for complete strangers?!

Fear not though as it's well in the works and almost done, we hope everyone is having a great summer and staying cool!

What is going on? Undergoing some changes...

Hello Everyone!

Some of you may of noticed the lack of blog posts, but yet we've been tweeting up a storm or trying to get out the local events/news via Facebook and Twitter.

We are trying to export the blog over to a new server, however it's having glitches also, we've gone from taking off all the "widgets" in the sidebar to stripping the blog down to it's bare bones - still no dice.  If we can't get it remedied by the end of this week we'll be looking for alternate plans again, isn't technology fun?! About as fun as scraping your eyeball with the mascara brush, right? Right.

So with that said we are still actively looking for new interns/writers if you are interested contact us and we can get you more details, also if you are a photographer/designer and have any upcoming events let us know too!

Hope everyone is having a great summer this week looks promising for some nice weather.

You can follow us on Facebook.com

Wordless Wednesday...Weird Al goes "Gaga"

Hope everyone is doing well!  Since all the writers are on summer break the writing has been left to me for the summer and quite frankly I've been so under the weather that sitting in front of a computer hasn't been my choice of leisure lately.

BUT...this Weird Al video has been going viral on Facebook lately and it's so funny that I had to share what a "costume" designers views are of Lady Gaga's costumes - cheap interesting versions for the video.  I have to say though I really like the Swiss cheese dress, that cracked me up.

Enjoy but don't blame me when the song won't get out of your head though!

Don't forget to "check in!" ... discounts via Foursquare

Ever since truly joining the proper technology age that we live in (first with Android and now an iPhone) I've finding ways to get discounts without having to clip coupons - as truly I'm not a coupon clipper. I can appreciate a good deal but don't make me dig thru pages and deal with paper cuts to find it!  I've fallen in love with Foursquare lately - and I know some are groaning but there truly is a way to manage it without having to reveal where you are if you don't want to broadcast it to the world and still get great discounts! (when checking in select the option to "no" share with friends for added privacy)

Here are few random examples, subject to change:

H&M - check in to the Beachwood Place location and the first time check in get 24% off a single item!

American Eagle Outfitters - Check in and get 15% of your purchase.

Find other great discounts local to you here! 4SquareOffers.

Happy deal hunting!

While browsing around Beachwood Place yesterday digging around for the latest accessories to add to my collection came across a lot, A LOT, of "Daisy Duke" shorts thru nearly every store, even had them in the maternity store.

Forever 21 - $19.80

This is much better from Forever 21...

Forever 21 - $17.80

I visited both Forever 21 and H&M in Beachwood Place...

Served with a side of Irish Pride...

Not sure how many of you will be wondering off to the Irish Festival in Cuyahoga Falls but it's definitely worth while to make a trip over there sometimes this weekend.  I have been the last few years and it's always a joy but also there are some great little shops along the water front there to peruse through during the day.  We all know the Kiss Me I'm Irish apparel from St. Patrick's day but here are a few other fun diddies I pulled together that help show off Irish pride:

While searching about I also came across this very nice blog based out of Ireland that is all about local style not just for you and me but also home decor - enjoy!  Blog:  Blandaid

Friday Five: Rompers

Earlier this week on Facebook and Twitter we were discussing rompers and their "comeback" - well they are here and I'm starting to notice them everywhere!  Maybe my eyes have been more in tune to them since talking about them, but now I see them literally everywhere I look, some you wouldn't even necessarily think are!  While I'm not romping out the door to buy a romper (I think they really take a certain personality to rock out, and that's not me) many of you are, tell us what you think and shoot us a picture wearing your favorite romper!

BCBGeneration - $86.40 (sale at Zappos)

Dereon - $29.99 (sale at Jimmy Jazz)

Baby Phat - $59.00 (at Dr Jays)

Ella Moss -$66.93 (sale at 6pm.com)

And for fun, check out this fun romper from Etsy...

Etsy - Romper - $89 (Etsy link to romper)

Now go forth and romp into a great weekend!  For ideas of fashionable things check out Fashionably Cleveland's local calendar!

Review: Shellac Nail Polish...

Well, for those that know me I like to keep things especially in the beauty department nice but as maintenance free as long as possible cause I'm just always on the go and have very limited time.  So, when I read one of my favorite nail blogs raves about shellac I was excited when I notice the salon I frequented uses the brand she talks about - and then a dream was born and talked to the tech about it and read more about it, I was excited plain and simple.

The entire process is quick and easy - but while watching the polish dry under the UV lamps I couldn't help but to think to myself wonder if I'll have a weird tan line when I pull my fingers out.  Luckily no weird tan-line and that thing works wonders in a fast amount of time wish it was always that way.  The only weird part was the spray she went to spray on afterwards well she totally miss looked the placement of the nozzle and she and I both got a face full of a weird ammonia smell, but if that was the worst than it was overall quick and painless.

I picked a light color but it still had a shimmer to it so even thought out of my norm from the bright I tend to choose they said I can put other polish over this and not damage the shellac when I remove the other - good deal.  As of this writing I haven't tried it yet though, but a customer at the salon gets the clear shellac and swear by polishing over it all the time.

I didn't snap any pictures till today, here's the "good hand" we'll call it of the two there were no chips or issues, I did trim the nails back due to the issues with the other hand to "match" better.

The other hand, well after about 3 days the first chip happened and I ignored it hoping it would just "mesh" and then the other nails all slowly started getting a weird fold crack along the shellac (along the nail bed) - I started referring to it as the 'Brokeback Mt look' cause it looked like ridges and they were "sharp".  I trimmed all the nails back to try and eliminate the crease some not so successful though but I'm back to researching why this could of happen - some of the shellac even peeled off in chunks as if someone was pulling off a press-on nail.

Oh well, I tried!  While this may not happen to everyone it's something to watch out for I'll keep the Facebook page updated if it turns into a complete flop and I just soak the shellac off in disappointment at the end.

Tuesday Trend: Cargos

Cargo capris from the Loft paired with zebra print tank and scarf worn by Christina Phillis from The Cosmopolitan Clevelander.

When you are looking for comfort for this summer many wouldn't argue you with you about the comfort of a pair of cargos which are often made of cotton and are "soft and flexible". Cargos are available in many various styles from shorts, capris or pants and look great paired with anything from sandals to heels.  A'la Jennifer Aniston style...:

They are a favorite amongst those that do many outdoor activities or even the photographer that either wanted to put cans of film (yes the process does still exist!) or just to throw gear in their pockets - like I always did!

Also from the Loft for the Hot at Beachcliff fashion show Stacey from Goodwill Huntingg modeled shorts paired with a sequined tank top (milky white) and boyfriend cardigan.

Product review: It's a 10...

Ever been so upset at something you just feel like you need to take to the streets and shout it from the rooftops?  Well that's how I felt after coming home and seeing what a mess my stylist made of my hair with it's a 10 "miracle styling cream. I generally don't like to go on a rampage about a product, but a few of my followers can a test to my ranting yesterday about this product, as I was thoroughly frustrated!

My stylist and I have a wonderful stand relationship for several years and while I trust her with my hair I trust that she knows her products. Truly tho I'm looking at the situation as the wrong product for my hair that was a learning lesson for us both.

I'm not asking you to pass judgment on the product with out trying it yourself, but consider this a forewarning of things to look for.  When she put the product on everything felt fine just like any other hair product that had been applied. She explained there would be no issue styling with a hot iron once dry listed the many other "qualities" of the product  including: eliminating frizz, and sealing split ends to name a few.

Leaving the salon I felt good about the product, good enough to buy a bottle of it with her recommendation knowingly I was nearly out of the product I had at home which was comparable in price.  After getting home a few hours later I decided to flat iron which she didn't do to allow ample time for it to dry - then the nightmares began.  I noticed the product made my hair coarse but thought maybe I'm just feeling things so I continued and literally in white globs the product melted off my hair.  I quickly hopped into the shower and washed it out - few hours later still felt coarseness from the product which I believe to of been the sealing quality - wash again, no dice still coarse.  Next day after morning shower still felt the coarseness but did not have the white blobs stream down my hair and as I had the day before.  Final result, I wasn't happy so I called the salon and while they didn't "understand" had said to go ahead and return what I had purchased - GOOD cause I didn't want it.

I later talked to a hair stylist at the Hot at Beachcliff event and she had mentioned it sounded she had put too much of it onto my hair possibly - but she wasn't familiar with the specific product.  I'm still returning it though, if a stylist can accidentally put too much on I'm sure I'll be making a mess of it on my own!

Zero out of five stars. Nora tested, Nora not approved.

Fashion Week Roundup & Friday Five - TGIF!

What a whirlwind of activities we have had over the past week including the gala event for Fashion Week Cleveland at the Crawford Auto Museum.  This event just seems to be getting big and bigger every year!  There were truly some very nice pieces that went down the runway and such a mix of bondage looking, swim suits to bridal!
The automobile museum was a great 'distraction' while walking around and enjoying taking pictures with such great vehicles like the stainless steel Thunderbird or DeLorean my personal favorites.  The night was perfect with some samples of foods from local restaurants and Tequilador and Squirt mixed drinks that one was easily distracted while chit-chatting away which wasn't good for trying to get good seats at the show!  The show itself was set up interesting an cross pattern unlike the year before which did cause for a few near collisions amongst models on the runway but also made for not so ideal but can improvise seating arrangements.  If you weren't 'Johnny on the spot' for getting in their early you may of ended up like me in the back and huddled against a wall to get you some of these fine pictures.  But the evening was still a success had a great time loved running into blogger friends Christina from The Cosmopolitan Clevelander and Stacey from Goodwill Huntingg.  We had a great time, and we look forward to the event next year - it just seems to be getting better with age like the fine wines and cheeses they were serving!

While we had many here are OhioFashionista.com's Friday Five Picks:

Make sure you check out our Facebook page for more pictures in the Fashion Week Cleveland album!

Tuesday Trend: Purse Hangers...

One thing that you don't put a lot of thought in till possibly either your purse drops to the ground, is crushed or has food dropped on it is where to hang it in a restaurant.  Well, why not hang it off the bottom of the table from your purse hanger?  At first I thought these hooks of metal were kind of funny till I found myself utilizing them when I go out for those very reasons I listed!

While you can truly find them in any store including Macy's or even Target; I like to support local artists that I can find at crafts show or on Etsy.

Here's some of my favorite hangers/hookers found locally:

Art Glass Fusion - Kent - $15

Silverhooks - Columbus - $12.99

There are many styles and they easily it into a purse and no bigger the size of a half-dollar folded up, like the lower image!

...details on their jeans!  What did you think I was going to say?

While browsing the GQ website I came across a wonderful little pictorial article about the detail work on men's denim.  We all pay attention to the jeans, right?  Well ok, maybe more attention to who's wearing them but really once you get real close and right down to it those fine little details can really make or break a good pair of jeans. So, guys if you see your lady staring down don't get too much of an ego trip she's just looking to see your denim details!

Here's a few of OhioFashionista.com favorites from the GQ pictorial article:

Subtle hints of color...

Pocket detailing isn't just for the birds...
